Wedding Planning 101 – Finding a Location For Your Wedding
May 5, 2009
Having a wedding somewhere you do not currently live can create some problems as it means that you will have to plan a lot from far away. Things are getting easier however, and the Internet has helped out a great deal. You can now browse through the services of various vendors online, checking out their portfolios and testimonials on their websites. You can also chat to other brides online in wedding forums to get their advice on a particular vendor they may recommend or use.
Additionally you may want to hire a wedding consultant that operates in the area you are planning to get married. They can take care of organizing things at your wedding venue and deal with local vendors. Alternatively, if you are marrying at your parents' hometown you can rely on them to help you out.
Plan you visits to your wedding location well in advance. This will give you time to arrange meetings with as many of your wedding vendors as possible in the relatively short amount of time you will be spending in the area. Take as many notes as you can as you can refer to these when you are back home. Also get all your business agreements in writing.
Once you have decided upon your wedding location you will then want to decide whether to host your wedding inside or outdoors. This will depend on a few things including your location and your wedding date. A wedding in the summertime lends itself nicely to an outdoor event, while a winter wedding suggests you should keep things indoors as much as possible. If it frequently rains where you are having your wedding then it is best to have an indoor event, yet if there is glorious sunshine for most of the year you may want to take things outside. Obviously, this goes back to choosing your location in the first place; so if you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding then choose a location that will allow you to have one.
